ReadMetric answers it instantly — reading time, speaking time for scripts and podcasts, and page count for manuscripts — without a signup, a paywall, or your text ever leaving your browser.
What we offer
ReadMetric's calculator has three modes sharing one word count: Reading Time for blogs and articles, Speaking Time for scripts, presentations and text-to-speech, and Pages for manuscripts and printed documents. Reader Persona presets (Skimmer, Casual, Technical for reading; Slow, Conversational, Podcast for speaking) let you match real audience pace in one click, or fine-tune with the slider.
Accuracy you can trust
Our default reading speed of 238 words per minute is drawn from commonly cited academic research on silent adult reading. Speaking and page-count defaults follow standard industry conventions. We explain the exact math behind every number in our guides rather than hiding it behind a black box.
Who builds it
ReadMetric is part of getinfotoyou, a network of free, practical web tools built by an independent developer. We fund the free service through unobtrusive advertising rather than paywalls.
